Unite Church is known for it's
inte-rgenerational congregation. In all that we do, we strive to reach people of all generations and walks of life.
Unite Church desires to introduce new songs to our congregation on a quarterly basis. Each quarter you can expect to hear some new as well as old songs, all in an effort to draw worshippers into deeper
connection with God.

About 60-70% of of Sundays, we live stream messages from Embrace church in Sioux Falls, SD. The times we do not live stream our Lead Pastor, Jason "Marty" Martens shares a message.

Our Mission and Vision

Our Misson at Unite Church is to make disciples for Christ by living out God’s greatest command to love God and love people.
Our Vision is to love God through contemporary worship, small groups, and Bible study. To love people through community development, service, encouragement, and sharing the Good News of Jesus.
Unite Church, formerly known as Salem United Church, was founded by the Presbyterian and United Methodist Conference (UMC) in 1979. The church operated for many years with the lead pastor split between to separate worshipping bodies; one in Montrose SD, and the other here in Salem, SD. This model worked well for many years but in recent years the church began to notice a gradual decline in regular attenders. With fear of closing, the remaining attenders, church council, and UMC District Superintendent Roger Spahr, discerned what it would look like to bring in a Pastor to focus solely on the church body in Salem and have the current Pastor focus on the church in Montrose, SD.

After a lot of prayerful discussion, the church decided to take a leap of faith and agreed to hire a Pastor that would serve the church in Salem. They also decided to partner with a large Methodist church in Sioux Falls, SD known as Embrace Church. Embrace offered their expertise when it came to live streaming messages, and mentorship to ensure the quality and success of this new opportunity. August of 2016 Pastor Jason “Marty” Martens and his wife Jessica were hired to pastor Salem United Church. Pastor Marty, skilled in Christian leadership and Pastoral care, was hired to be the lead pastor while Jessica was hired as Director of Ministries and Worship Arts.

Upon the new pastor being hired, the church was in the process of cutting ties with the Presbyterian denomination and becoming only Methodist. Therefore, the church technically “closed” and was re-launched February 5th, 2017 as Unite Church. Unite Church is driven to reach the next generation of believers. The members desire to see their children and grandchildren call Unite Church their church home for many years to come.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
